What made you pick your instrument(s)?

I've always been a singer, but what made me pick up a guitar was the fact that my mother played and she really influenced me to start.

Do you remember when you first felt compelled to treat singing as more than a hobby?

I knew very early on that I wanted to be a singer, I think I was about five when I went to my parents and told them that was what I wanted to do. I come from a very music-oriented family, so that didn't really surprise them. I actually started taking vocal lessons when I was six from a wonderful musician named Axel who ended up teaching me at Live as well!

Overall, what did you learn from attending Live?

My experience at Live! was extremely vital in helping me discover who I am as an artist. I took lessons for about 5 years. Within my first few months there, I was put in a band and played shows. In doing that I got to understand what it's really like to not only be a musician, but to be a performer. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from such skilled musicians. To this day, I am still friends with most of my former bandmates. Overall, I know that I would not be where I am today if it weren't for Live! and all of the amazing staff there.

You've performed your music for audiences dozens of times since you've started.  Do you have any pre-show rituals? Any tips for musicians who might be nervous about getting on stage?

My pre-show rituals usually include warming up my vocal cords, eating some honey and meditating. My tips for nervous musicians are just to relax and think about how great being on stage feels. It's the best feeling in the entire world — it's so rewarding. Even if you're nervous when you first get on stage, by the end of the first song, all of your nerves will be gone.

What's in the works for you right now?

Right now, I'm working on writing and recording my first album in Nashville with some extremely talented people who I am really lucky to be working with.

Any future plans?

Hopefully, in the future I'll still be playing music and touring. It's my absolute passion, and I wouldn't know that if it weren't for Live.

I have taken lessons at LIVE! since it first opened. My experience at the school was both wonderful and enjoyable. Ever since I started attending lessons and band practices I've not only made friends, but I've met people who are now like family to me. I begun to learn different instruments and the fundamentals of music. I would not be the musician I am today if not for the school. The teachers are wonderful and down-to-earth musicians who truly love the art and love to play. LIVE! has changed my life in such a positive way, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn an instrument.
